Going to Singapore? Check out Universal Studios for a Great Time!

Looking for something to do while in Singapore…head to Universal Studios! There are five Universal Studios in the world and if you are like me and want to go to them all then stop here. I went solo to Universal studios and it was my first time doing something so big like that solo. At first it was weird to be there solo but its an amusement park so that awkwardness I was feeling quickly went away as I enjoyed my time at the park. Here is some information and tips for you if you are heading there.

Before Going

  • Buy your ticket before getting to the park.
    • A one day ticket cost $62 SGD
    • You can buy the ticket from the universal website or app directly or on secondary websites like Klook. I bought mine on Klook as I went very last minute
  • Download the app.
    • Having the app for any universal park is important as you can store your tickets there as well as get express passes
    • The biggest benefit is having a map of the park as well as the wait times for rides. You can plan your route through the park accordingly when you can see the time for some rides.
  • Check the weather.
    • Singapore has very unpredictable weather but not necessarily bad weather. It can rain at any given time in Singapore for a small amount of time; just make sure its not pouring when you go.

How to get there

Universal is located in Sentosa Island and you can drive, get a taxi, or take public transportation to get there.

To get there using public transport you must first head to Vivo City from wherever you are staying. Vivo City is a big mall where you can find many stores and fast food chains but most importantly you can find the shuttle that takes you to Sentosa Island. If you are taking public transport the subway will leave you in the basement of the mall and you must head up to the top floor from there.

It cost $3 SGD to get on the shuttle and it leaves every 15 minutes. Heads up it gets packed so be prepared.

Main Areas

  • Far Far Away
  • The Lost World
  • New York
  • Harry Potter area not yet finished in 2024

The Best Ride

Universal Singapore is very much geared more toward kids as most rides are clam and children friendly with that being said this is going to be the best ride for adults.

Battle Star Galactica: Cylon & Human! These are two rollercoasters that battle each other. They are definitely worth the wait. Wherever you are in the park, if you see a short wait time for these two rides head to them as the line for these two rides can be quite long.

The Mummy! But only because it is a classic.

Canopy Flyer! Another good rollercoaster in the park and line for this one can be long as well. Luckily this ride has a single rider line.

Tips

Solo Travel Struggle: For some reason there are not many Single rider lines at this Universal which was quite disappointing. So Good luck to the solo traveler waiting on long lines all alone like me.

Put your phone away: If they tell you leave your phone in a locker do it as they have metal detectors when you get on line so that way you do not bring your phone.

If You’re hungry: Outside of the park is a food truck area with delicious bites so skip the food in the park for dinner and head there.

If you are in adult you honestly do not need a lot of time in the park and can get through it pretty fast so sleep in if you want…I did and enjoyed everything I wanted.
