Hiking through Cocora Valley 🇨🇴🌿

Just outside Salento, Colombia, Cocora Valley is home to the world’s tallest wax palms — some over 60 meters high. 🌴

You can take a Willys jeep from Salento’s main square for about 10,000 COP round trip, and in 30 minutes you’ll be surrounded by misty green hills and sky-high palms.

Entrance costs 25,000 COP, and you can choose between a quick 1–2 hour walk to the main viewpoint or the full 4–6 hour hike costing 20,000 COP

Tried chicha for the first time in Colombia 🍶 — a traditional fermented drink made from corn that’s been part of the country’s culture for centuries. It’s slightly sweet, tangy, and carries a taste of history in every sip.

What’s wild is that chicha was actually banned for decades in Colombia after beer companies launched campaigns against it in the mid-1900s, calling it unsafe and “uncivilized.” The government eventually banned its sale, pushing this ancient tradition underground for years.

But locals never really let it die. Today, chicha has made a comeback — especially in Bogotá and smaller Andean towns — often served in colorful clay cups and sometimes mixed with fruits like pineapple or strawberry to give it a fresh twist. 🍍🍓

It’s one of those drinks that’s more than just a taste — it’s a story of resilience, identity, and cultural pride. 🇨🇴✨
